I know this is a super old post but what I discovered was that you can sell the cars even if it's greyed out. You just click on the car you want to sell even if it doesn't get selected I think it selects the car without showing you and then on the blue X below. I don't know if this would work for everyone tho. You could no longer go grab your friends and walk around cars in the showroom together.
