What do girls at vanderbilt wear
It's ultimately their decision, but if the process is intense here, I'd have to wonder how it is at Vandy. I would expect it to be at least the same intensity for some doing it. I don't think Greek Life should be bashed, but I'm not down for changing people's opinion to push them up to do it based upon the idea that "everyone in it is happy".
Does that imply that there are more unhappy people outside of it and thus, those who join, become happier? I doubt it, if this is true, it is more likely because the sample size outside of it is at least slightly larger. Also, I'm sure that some of those unhappy in GL are as capable of putting on facades as those outside of it.
That being said the vast, vast majority of white girls are greek. I know they have a "hipster" vibe. I would think that this young lady will be fine dressing however she dressed in Chicago. I am guessing she didn't wear sweatpants or pj pants to school last year - these would be out of place at Vandy - but I would bet whatever she wore last year will be fine at Vandy. My D went to school in all kinds of outfits.
When she interned, she wore the clothes she wore to work she interned during school on days she also went to class. When she didn't intern, she usually wore jeans. She did dress a bit more nicely than her friends at UMich dressed that is a more casual campus - but she didn't dress in designer clothes, carry a designer purse, or anything like that.
She never felt out of place. If you all only knew that your little girls were wearing while they were away at college, you would withdraw them from school immediately and enroll them in a convent.
She said her friends hassle her for dressing too conservativelyi. I wasn't trying to dress her because I have no clue where to start! After I posted this I went to help her pack. Where everyone wears polo shirts with the collars popped, guys have seersucker shorts and flip flops and girls miniskirts and Ugg boots or flip flops. Where the frats and sororities reign supreme. Where drunkeness is expected. Where your social status as a freshman is determined by whether you live in Branscomb or Kissam.
Where there are more rival fans than Vandy fans at football games. In order to put it in perspective, I just reminded myself that the drive IS possible—I have currently done it three times, with another one coming up this fall! People go home for fall break, Thanksgiving we have one week off which is so nice , holiday break, and spring break. Once in awhile people go home for the weekend, too, so that is not at all out of the question.
People frequently ask me whether I will return to my roots or stay in the South once I graduate this May eek! I have absolutely no clue, but Tennessee has certainly given me plenty of reasons to stick around! Main Street in my CT hometown. At night, stick with the jeans and throw on a great fitting black top and a fun high heel. Another great option is Josephine in 12South for a leisurely lunch and fabulous boutique shopping.
For beautiful clothes and accessories, bring some serious credit card limits and try both Coco and Jamie in Belle Meade and H. Audrey at the Hill Center in Green Hills.
For the somethings: What to Wear : A great pair of skinny jeans, a cozy plaid shirt and some comfy boots once again, NO cowboy boots.
